Our People
Interested in working for thinkFolio? Send your enquiries to jobs@thinkFolio.com
Andrew Walsh
CEO
- Before founding thinkFolio, Andrew spent 4 years as a split specialist in financial and missile guidance systems at Software Sciences, and was subsequently responsible for all technology systems at Guinness Flight for 14 years. Aside from overall business direction, he has primary responsibility for product direction and chairs the monthly product development forum at thinkFolio. When he isn’t wining and dining our clients, Andrew continually pops between his desk upstairs and the thinkFolio office at approximately the speed of light, with only a gust of wind and the sound of the door slamming to let you know he was here.
Christine Mander
COO
- After studying History at London University, Christine made an early career change and moved into IT. She first worked in the Software division of Ferranti and then became the third member of ASCribe, a software company specialising in healthcare. This is where her fascination with small companies began. When ASCribe grew to more than 50 employees, she left to become one of the founding members of thinkFolio. Her hypnotherapy skills are kept in reserve in case the company curry and foosball addictions get out of hand.
Gary Ellis
CTO
- Quiet until you get him behind the wheel of a fast car or on the foosball table, the man behind the glasses is one of the founding members of thinkFolio and is responsible for technical direction. He has also worked for Citibank, Guinness Flight, and UBS Warburg. Before his life at thinkFolio, Gary wrote computer games and founded his own firm to develop a message broking system that is now used by several large City banks. For the retro look, try googling his name +bmxsim and play online to bring back those memories of the 80s.
r*Fur Bear
HMoney Manager
- r*Fur has been with thinkFolio since the beginning, but can occasionally be a source of tension in the office. He refuses to participate in our Friday afternoon curry, preferring to sit on his own with a jar of honey, and maybe some freshly caught Alaskan salmon. Antisocial eating habits aside, r*Fur plays a critical role in the development of thinkFolio. He sits on the board and is in charge of sending out our holiday greetings.
Marco Maddalena
Head of Product Engineering
- Marco joined thinkFolio in September 2003 after 8 years IT development experience at Guinness Flight and Investec Asset Management. He holds an MEng in Mechanical Engineering from Imperial College, University of London and an MSc in Operational Research from University of Strathclyde, Glasgow. In a desperate bid to regain his youth, he continues to play rugby for Tunbridge Wells RFC and football for Fat Dads FC, in whose band he also plays the sax. He recently completed the cycle ride from Land's End to John O' Groats.
Matthew York
Head of Product Delivery
- Matthew joined thinkFolio in September 2002 after 8 years in Asset Management at INVESCO and later Investec Asset Management. Ever questioning, Matthew enjoys taking a hammer to things (sometimes quite literally) to understand how they work. Matthew is an avid football fan and follows the Mighty AFC Wimbledon.
Michael Markham
CFO
- We always know when Michael is in the office. As qualified as he is loud (very), Michael was Head of Credit at INVESCO and later Investec Asset Management, before he joined us at thinkFolio in October 2004. Michael’s expertise lies in Investment Grade Sterling debt (for which he became AAA rated by S&P Fund Research), Pan European High Yield debt, and accidently ordering the wrong lunch and being disappointed.
Campbell Wild
Head of Scottish Development
- After graduating from Edinburgh University, Campbell worked at AEGON Asset Management implementing third party investment systems and developing in-house solutions, before he joined thinkFolio in March 2005. Campbell takes working from home to the extreme by living 335.9 miles from the office, in Edinburgh. In his spare time, he develops a system called ADRIFT which allows people to create text adventures. He has two cats, and has a bowl of cereal every night for supper.
Ciara Mangan
Head of Product Experience
- Among other things, Ciara holds the distinction of being the most Irish person at thinkFolio. She is also tied with Matthew for having the most cats. Before joining thinkFolio, Ciara worked as a project manager and JEB IT trainer. She moved to London in 2004 and worked with a Middleware software vendor and then joined KPMG as a consultant in the Investment Management Advisory team.
Sue Bingham
Office Manager
- Sue has been a part of thinkFolio since we moved to our Tempus Wharf location in May 2006. She keeps the office running smoothly and well supplied with cakes (as our clients well know), and also makes a mean cuppa.
Jill Haynes
Head of Product Usability
- Cloaked in mystery, Jill wishes to remain anonymous in the personal bio section of the website. That may be in order to conceal her secret identity as a crime-fighting superhero, but equally, it may be because she doesn’t feel like writing a bio. Hard to tell. Speaking of telling, I think I’ve said too much already.
Adriaan Mostert
Head of Southern Africa Support
- As his title implies, Adriaan lives and works in South Africa, commuting to the London office only occasionally. Adriaan graduated from Cape Technikon with a National Diploma in Information Technology. Adriaan then joined Investec Asset Management in 1999 as a Systems Analyst and Developer. Ultimately, Adriaan looked after thinkFolio operationally at Investec Asset Management before he came to work for us.
Garry Donegan
Head of Product Integration
- Garry has been with thinkFolio since August 2006, following spells at EDS-Scicon, JPMorgan and Insight Investment. He has expertise in asset management front office systems as well as torpedo tactics, and is perhaps overly fond of curries.
Caroline Lesniak
Services Manager
- Caroline joined thinkFolio in December 2007 with a BA in Linguistics, and an MA in Medieval Literature. She wears several hats at thinkFolio; recent contributions include sending invoices, writing the website copy and making peanut butter cookies. Aside from that, she spends most of her time pestering people to turn in their expenses and is responsible for any in-house graphic design and printing.
Mike Carragher
Head of Asia Pacific Implementation
- Mike is the most southerly member of the team, having moved to Melbourne in 2007. He holds a BSc (Hons) in Computing Science from Glasgow University, and spent seven years at Ignis Asset Management as a Project Manager before embarking on his Australian adventure. A father of two, Mike spends most of his free time with his family and friends, taking advantage of the good weather and cold beer. His BBQ skills, however , are still amateur by Aussie standards.
Steve Warner
Head of Complex Instruments
- Having turned down the highly coveted title of 'Head of Essex', Steve remains designation-free (suggestions to jobs@thinkFolio.com). Steve has had experience across a broad range of financial institutions, including RBS, Merrill Lynch and Augustus IM. With the addition of Steve to the team, the thinkFolio people-to-cats ratio has increased for the first time in recent memory to greater than one, while the population of die-hard table-football enthusiasts has been diluted. Steve is soon to become a father for the first time and is most looking forward to cheering on Leyton Orient with his offspring.
